AUTOTRADER X KENAN THOMPSON
Late this spring, I had the chance to shoot my first project in Mexico City, and it was epic. The shoot was a bit of a reunion with some of my favorite creatives at 72andSunny. I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with the agency several times over the years, and they consistently take the approach that every aspect of a campaign is important. In a world where I am constantly hearing about AI taking over, we've created something real and practical that I’m excited about. Walking into the world where production and set design took from rendering to reality in a relatively short period of time is always impressive and inspiring to me.
This project was a collaborative effort between the stills team and the motion team to navigate a packed schedule to create these assets for the client. It’s always a dance, and thankfully, the motion team was great partners and even better dancers. Once the day started to unfold, it was on my team and me to get busy when our number was called.
This was my second time working with Kenan, so I had a good idea of how he likes to work, and there was familiarity there that assisted with getting the best out of him. We had the Atlanta connection, and I had just worked with one of his SNL castmates the week before, who gave me a few additional nuggets that were clutch.
The final piece to this entire puzzle was the post-production, and fortunately, the agency and I were on the same page with who would take the images to the next level, Portus Images. We have a long history of taking complex ideas, multiple shots, and bringing a final vision to life. They knocked the ball out of the park on this one.
