VISA X CMC X KYLE HAMILTON X JANELLE JAMES
Football is my favorite sport by a long shot, so anytime I have a chance to work on a campaign centered around NFL athletes, I’m pumped. This summer was one of my favorite production companies to collaborate with, called Hungryman, and they brought me on to shoot both stills + social motion pieces for the latest VISA campaign. I had the opportunity to work with three incredibly talented people: Janelle James, Christian McCaffrey, and Kyle Hamilton.
Shooting the stills alongside motion was something I’ve done for years, and I’ve always enjoyed it. One of the things I love most about it is watching, listening, and learning from the different directors, and I’ve been fortunate to work with. In my mind, I’ve had a front seat to a masterclass in directing from some of the best in the business. And I’ve taken full advantage of that access by asking questions, building relationships, and learning how to collaborate with large teams that have competing priorities. I truly believe this has made me a better photographer.
The director I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with the most is Wayne McClammy, an absolute savant at his craft. Over the last couple of years, I’ve learned so much from him and developed a great shorthand with his team. So, when I received the call for this campaign from Wayne’s team and the ask evolved to directing the social spots, I felt prepared and supported.
Now, “LFG RAVENS.” FYI, I’m a huge Ravens fan, so shooting Super Duper Kyle (yes, I was told no one calls him that, but true Ravens fans know the deal) was easily one of the highlights of my summer.
